I know it’s been a while since I posted last. So here is a quick recap of what we’ve been doing. Enjoy!

Dallas M-Line Trolley

So we were looking for some free fun in the Dallas area yesterday, since I have been dubbed the “Google Queen” I put my title to good use and found the Mckinney Ave. Trolley in downtown Dallas. The boys are obsessed with anything transportation so I figured this would be a hit, plus it’s FREE!! YAY for us! Well, Larry and I talked about it and we decided to spend a bit (I know slow down high rollers is what you are thinking) and take the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) down to the M-Line station, which just so happens the boys have been begging to do for quite some time now. Well we got to our stop which was underground, yes there is a “subway portion” for the DART and it was pretty cool, the boys loved being in a tunnel, and loved it even more when the train stopped and we got off in the tunnel. After 3 separate escalators we emerged at the trolley stop, and began our wait in 103 degree temps (I didn’t say it was a well thought out day). Once the trolley got there the boys were in heaven, we rode it all the way one direction and decided not to brave the heat (yes it was an air conditioned 1920′s trolley) and stayed on for the return trip to our DART station. The driver was GREAT, he even let the boys blow the whistle, which they loved!!! He told us the best places to eat and explained that the trolley was original to Dallas and was considered one of the “newer” trolley cars as it was built in the late 1920′s. All in all it was a great experience, a rough ride but the boys couldn’t have been happier. After our trolley ride was complete we hopped back on the DART train and headed home. We had a great “almost” free day with our kiddos and enjoyed a little of vintage Dallas! We love you all!

4th (well 3rd actually) of July at Addison Kaboom Town!

So Larry and I decided, since we missed our community fireworks show due to our air conditioner being out, that we would take the kiddos over to his work and watch Addison’s Kaboom Town. This show is apparently one of the top 10 in the country, and it was in fact pretty awesome. We started our afternoon/early evening adventure by going to the ice cream shop where the kids both chose cotton candy ice cream and Wes had gummy bears for his topping while Ty went for the more traditional M&M’s. They had a great time as did we. We left there and headed to Larry’s work, which is located just north of where the fireworks were going to be done. We get there and the parking garage is pretty full, so we locate a spot and settle in. Larry played frisbee with the boys and painted American Flag tattoo’s on their arms. We were lucky enough to be in the flight path of some pretty cool planes, apparenlty there was an airshow before the fireworks. Well finally the show started, the fireworks were awesome, Ty stood with his mouth open WIDE just watching. Wes loved the BOOM sound they made. We packed up at about 10pm and headed home, as I lay Wes down in his bed he says “Mommy, thank you for the fireworks I had a lot of fun!” Man, I love being a Mom!!! So I have to thank my sister in law for this one. She posted this video on Facebook today, happens to be one of my favs. The end of this song just breaks me every time I hear it. Just the genuine plee to be more like our Father drops me to my knees. I would love to say that as a Christ follower I have it all together, that life is perfect, I never get angry, jealous, resentful or hurt. That I never worry, or try to take things into my own hands, that I never put STUFF before my relationship with HIM. I would love to say that my time is devoted to serving others and not myself, however the more I reflect on my years as a follower the more I realize how selfish, and ruined I really am!!! I am NOTHING, I sin daily, I put myself before others, I AM NOTHING!! If not for God I AM NOTHING!!! I have to repeat this to myself hourly sometimes more. Since this revelation, which I shamefully admit has only occurred recently, you see before I assumed I was doing ok, not great but ok! I was a good person, my life had certainly changed, I have changed. Then our pastor did this service (if you are interested in hearing it you can find it at The Village , it is the sermon dated June 20th) which I am sure not coincidentally, the aforementioned song was sung prior to. He talked about how even the “good mother, good wife, good person” needs to repent! If we are in any way EVER counting on our actions to get us to Heaven we are truly lost!!! NOTHING, no amount of goodness or good deeds will admit us into heaven it is ONLY by Jesus Christ that we are saved, the life change that SHOULD follow is not done to earn favor but because we see how broken we are!!!! Because our hearts cry out to be MORE like HIM and less like this world expects us to be!!! Who cares where you live or what you drive, these things won’t matter in eternity!!! Who cares that you were a good husband, good wife or great parent, did you live your LIFE for HIM only!?!?!? Did every thing you do reflect HIS love and did everything you do (being a good husband, wife, parent) come out of wanting to be more like HIM!!! Today I pray that I will take these words to heart and that the Lord will continue to break me until HE has made me the person I was created to be!! I love you Jesus!!!

Wesley is 3!!!!!!!

So Wesley turned 3 on May 2nd!! I still can’t believe my “baby” is 3!!!! Anyway, we have all been pretty sick the last week (with a cold) so we weren’t able to have a party for him so we spent the day at home instead!! I woke up to my sweet boy telling me “Mommy I’m 3 can I open my present now?” Backstory: Grandma and Grandpa Bush sent his present and we got it on the Wednesday before his b-day, well since I wasn’t sure if what was in the USPS mailer was wrapped I wouldn’t open it and of course since it wasn’t his birthday I wouldn’t allow him to open it either. So my young son carried this box around all week shaking it and saying “hmmm, I wonder what it could be??” He is my boy…I still do this at 30. Anyway, I told him he could open it and he loved it!! Then daddy informed him that he still had 1 more present to open but he had to get dressed (he was still in his PJ’s) So he quickly agreeded to get dressed. Well we went to the garage and there was Wesley’s new bike! He was excited so we put his helmet and knee pads on and got him on the bike…Well those of you that know my redheaded boy personally can only imagine what he did next?!?!?! He took off FULL SPEED out of the driveway…well our alley has a dip in the center to allow for drainage of water….well as Wes hit this “DIP” at full speed he proceeded to tip the bike over and fall off!!! There were NO tears, which again for Wes isn’t shocking! The boy only cries when he doesn’t get his way! Well, as with the fish story, once burned NEVER again for my boy!!! He refused to get back on and decided it was more fun to PUSH the bike, then after that got old (aprox. 20 seconds later) he wanted his trike and was DONE with the bike! Well after a bit of crafty negotiation on our part we managed to get him back on the bike and he rode down the alley with me in tow and had a huge smile on his face. Then after about 5 mins. my little techno boy asked “Mommy, can I go in and play Mario Party 8 on Wii?” (This was the gift given by Nanny and Pappa in Colorado) Again those that know Wes won’t be shocked by this!!! So we did, which turned out to be a good call cuz shortly after the rain started and the skies didn’t stop until sometime early this morning. Our back yard is a lake, now all we need is the boat! Anyway, after a little Wii we decided to attempt his cake, now Wes was pretty specific about his cake, he wanted a “red cake with orange sprinkles and number 3 candle. Well my attempt to turn white icing into red failed and the cake ended up being pink. Well my ever so funny husband thought why not make it a pig cake to honor the “swine flu” (this was mostly done for my Mom who is sockpiling the basement with rations and preparing for who knows what, she has done this many times…Y2K…Bird Flu…Presidental Election) yea we have a warped sense of humor here….To all who weren’t here we love and miss you!!!!!

So eight years ago today I walked into a bar (yea, A BAR) in downtown Denver and my life changed! It was about 1:15am when my friend Heather and I walked into Sports Column, I looked up and there was a very handsome man looking back at me. It was Mardi Gras time, so there were beads flying all over, he was up on a balcony area, when we made eye contact. He motioned for me to…well what you are “supposed” to do for beads….I shook my head NO!!! I was alot of things back then but that wasn’t one of them! Anyway, he then motioned for me to come up to him, again I shook my head no and motioned for him to come to me…he shook his head no…I shurgged my shoulders and went on my way…thinking “oh well!” Then as we made our way back to the front of the bar I glanced up and noticed he was looking at me! I smiled and he again motioned for me to come up there, I again (BEING STUBBORN) said “No” and motioned for him to come to me, well thank God he gave in, because that was the beginning of the end. He asked me my name, I told him, he got it wrong!!! Then he told me his and I said “ooh that will cost you a few points” My experience with previous “Larry’s” had been less than flattering!! Well, I gave him my number and we went on our way…after a dance!! Then later that afternoon he called, we set up a date for that night. When he picked me up, I knew I was gonna fall hard for this guy, espically when he said “You have two choices for dinner McDonald’s or Cheesecake Factory.” and I said “Well, are you gonna super size my meal?” he said “Ohh No.” I said “Cheesecake Factory it is then.” The rest of the evening was just as easy, no forced conversation, it was like we had always known each other…IT WAS AWESOME!!!! Anyway, the rest as they say is history, we were married a bit over a year later and to this day I still feel the same connection I did on that first date. It just flows, is what we always say!! We never have to be something we aren’t and we never have to fake something we feel we just “ARE!” He is my best friend, the love of my life, the man I gave my heart to 8 years ago and I thank GOD for him everyday!! Baby, I LOVE YOU!!! Thank you for a wonder 8 years together, I look forward to the rest of our lives!

How many pounds of pressure….

does it take to make a vinyl fence EXPLODE…with a minivan????????? Well, in my recent experience…NOT much! So on Monday, as I was coming home from a friends house, I went to pull into the driveway as I normally do. I have executed this maneuver with the precision of a surgeon for over 4.5 years now…ok more like a clumsy clown…but it has been done without major incident. Well this time I did not get so lucky. As I was turning into the driveway, I hear a very loud BOOM!!! I look over my right shoulder and I see NO fence…….yep folks I managed to EXPLODE the fence….Well Larry was working from home, so he was witness to the whole thing. As I get out of the car, he comes out of the garage laughing….quite hard mind you and tells me all he can think of is a Brad Paisley song (I will include the song so you can hear what he is talking about)….YES I have turned him C-O-U-N-T-R-Y for those that have known him for years!!!!!! Anyway, I have never been what one would call a “skilled” driver so this is just one of my many….I do mean many little incidents. Someday I may just revoke my own license. Enjoy!!
